BREAKING NEWS: Autistic Children in Takhmao Receives Donation from Royal Government

KANDAL: The Takhmao Special Education High School has more than 200 students with disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome and dementia. On Thursday morning the Royal Government, represented by the Minister of Social Affairs Vong Sauth, as well as by the Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council, Em Chan Makara have donated foods and cash for the final repairs of the buildings in the school currently undergoing a construction.

In a colorful building, with ramps for children on wheelchairs, playground and extra care from teachers and assistants, the Takhmao Special Education High School has received the presence of officials from the Royal Government, such as Minister of Social Affairs Vong Sauth and the Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council, Em Chan Makara.

During his speech, the Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and Chairman of the DAC Disability Action Council has thanked and appreciated parents, guardians and teachers who take care of children with autism, dementia and Down Syndrome. He has stressed children with disabilities need extra care and high patience.

The Minister has stated that he was speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Sen regarding the 23rd Cambodia Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 39th International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is observed under the theme of ‘Leadership and Participation of Person with Disabilities for Rehabilitation after the Covid-19’ crisis into an environmentally friendly, comfortable and sustainable society.

Minister Vong Sauth has also brought greetings from the President of the Cambodian Red Cross, Bun Rany Hun Sen. Both of whom Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife have always paid attention to the well-being of the disabilities of all kinds across the country.

It was announced during the ceremony the Minister of Social Affairs, representing Prime Minister’s will, has donated $10,000 to contribute with the final constructions of the Takhmao Special Education High School.

According to the Director of Hope for the Community and also the Director of Takhmao Special Education High School, at present, 205 students with special needs are studying in the school while 90 other children are waiting for the final repairs of the school’s buildings which are currently under construction.
